ECC PROGRAM

The Early Childhood Center (ECC) at the Singapore American School offers an outstanding educational experience that is fun, challenging and encourages students to develop skills and attitudes that will benefit them throughout their lives. We have created a tiered system which brings our youngest learners into the Preschool for a three hour program. Following this initial school experience, students will attend Pre-kindergarten which is an extended day program, which sees the children attending through lunch for a five and half hour session. After their first two years in the ECC, students will then move on to the Primary School where they will officially attend our all day program.

Program Times

Preschool (Parents may choose to have their children attend either the a.m. or p.m. session.)

A.M. session runs from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
P.M. session runs from 11:55 a.m. to 2:55 p.m.

Pre-Kindergarten (There is only one session of Pre-Kindergarten)

All Pre-Kindergarten students attend from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Class Sizes

Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten limits each class size to 16 students. In Preschool, there is one teacher and two teaching assistants. In Pre-Kindergarten there is one teacher and one teaching assistant in each classroom.

Accreditation

The Singapore American School Early Childhood Center is one of the only programs in Singapore accredited by the Western Association of School and Colleges out of the United States. Our program is built around an international curriculum which is aligned with the Pre-Kindergarten Standards document out of the United States which was developed by a panel of national experts in the early childhood education and reviewed by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. This document was collected and written as part of a public domain project underwritten by the McGraw-Hill Companies.
